A leading critic of the legislation, Cardinal Vincent Nichols of Westminster, has warned that the bill, if passed, could lead to a ‘slippery slope’ and instill ‘great fear and trepidation’ among the frail and vulnerable, especially those with disabilities.
The cathedral, which is livestreaming Masses via the website churchservices.tv, urged supporters to consider helping it “through the dark and challenging weeks ahead,” either by making a one-off donation or by downloading a form from its website and making regular fixed payments to the cathedral via standing orders.
The March 22 attack left at least five dead, including one police officer, and at least 40 injured.
