The circumstances surrounding the property’s purchase are the focus of an ongoing trial in the Vatican courts.

Tommaso Di Ruzza was questioned in the ongoing trial to prosecute 10 people on criminal charges mostly related to the Secretariat of State’s purchase of an investment property in London.

Fabrizio Tirabassi is one of several people being investigated by the Vatican in connection with investments and financial transactions made at the Secretariat of State.
The pope said that the new law was intended to bring the Holy See and Vatican City State further into line with international best practices on corruption and financial transparency,
Torzi is currently located in the United Kingdom and has not been served with the warrant.
Under the new law, APSA will gain ownership of funds, bank accounts, and investments, including real estate, previously administered by the Secretariat of State from Jan. 1, 2021.
COMMENTARY: The move to remove the financial authority of the Vatican department vindicates the financial reforms first undertaken by Cardinal George Pell.
