Brownback discussed the current state of faith-focused liberty at the 2023 International Religious Freedom Summit.
Our guests on this episode of Religious Freedom Matters are Sam Brownback, a former U.S. senator and Kansas governor who served as the U.S. Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom from 2018 to 2021, and Rebecca Shah, principal investigator for the Religion and Economic Empowerment Project (REEP) and a senior fellow at the Archbridge Institute.
COMMENTARY: President Trump’s pick, Sam Brownback, was relentless in observing and condemning religious persecution while encouraging world leaders to take steps in advancing religious freedom.
The Hausa Christians Foundation called the killings part of a “systematic, direct war against Christianity in Nigeria,” and said that “pastors, Christian leaders and seminarians are either being kidnapped or killed every week” in the country.
Christians in Nigeria have been the victims of an escalating series of attacks, including kidnappings for ransom, since the beginning of the year.
Christians, Tibetan Buddhists, and Falun Gong members have also been imprisoned for their faith in China, and should be released, Ambassador Sam Brownback said.
Among other duties, the ambassador is charged with monitoring religious freedom abuses worldwide and meeting with religious leaders around the globe.
ANALYSIS: Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton tossed plenty of barbs at Monday's televised debate at Hofstra University.
