Holy Father, in July 5 video message, called out world leaders who speak of ending the conflict but aid it with arms. He also said the Syrian conflict is a situation of ‘unspeakable suffering’ and ‘saddens my heart a lot.’
“There is a tremendous requirement of support from international countries, international donors, organizations, to help us,” Ambassador Lukman Faily said. “This is a regional challenge, an Iraqi challenge, a global challenge.”
According to Giving USA, U.S. philanthropy to overseas causes has dropped 3.6%, further adding to the $50 billion shortfall needed to adequately deal with the refugee crisis in Europe and the Middle East.
