The case dates back to 2014, when a 35-year-old woman, six months pregnant, was informed that her daughter had a chance of suffering from a rare brain disorder called agenesis of the corpus callosum.
A group of 30 medical association in Mexico had on Sept. 15 defended conscientious objection. Their statement expressed “rejection of legislative resolutions and their consequential actions from now on that could violate our human rights in the practice of our professions."
COMMENTARY: If there is an area of the public square in which freedom of conscience should be robustly granted and reluctantly curtailed, health care is it.
