The European Parliament voted last month in favor of a report describing abortion as “essential healthcare” and seeking to redefine conscientious objection as a “denial of medical care.”
In addition to describing abortion as an “essential” health service and redefining conscientious objection a “denial of medical care,” the report declared that violations of “sexual and reproductive health and rights” were “a form of violence against women and girls.”

The draft resolution, scheduled for a European Parliament vote June 23, could mark a breaking point in the European conception of abortion the right to life, according to a pro-life legal expert.
