Roberto Dell’Oro, a bioethicist and theologian at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, attacked the Dobbs decision during a panel discussion earlier this month.
A preferred pronouns controversy, a Planned Parenthood dance, and the removal of St. Junipero Serra’s statue have added more concerns about the Los Angeles Jesuit university’s commitment to its Catholic identity. But some see a way forward for hope.
The petition calls on Loyola Marymount to stop promoting gender ideology and to renew its “institutional commitment to Roman Catholicism.”
The statue dates back to the 1990s, when it was placed outside the campus library as a gift of William H. Hannon, a Catholic philanthropist and passionate admirer of St. Serra.
A Rosary rally to pray for human dignity and the right to life also gathered faculty, Jesuit priests and students.
Faithful alumni of Loyola Marymount University (LMU) in Los Angeles are urging signatures on a petition protesting a university-hosted fundraiser for Planned Parenthood this Friday.
The on-campus fundraiser has triggered a petition drive by an organization called RenewLMU that calls on University President Timothy Law Snyder to cancel the event.
