“While these tests can help parents prepare for the arrival of their child, we are concerned that they could be a predatory financial windfall for manufacturers and directly result in the termination of innocent human life,” said lawmakers in a letter to the FDA's acting commissioner.
Speaking to the International Catholic Legislators Network, the Pope encouraged the politicians to “make every effort to undertake serious and in-depth moral reflection on the risks and possibilities associated with scientific and technological advances.”
More than 90% of the 114th Congress identifies as Christian, said the Pew Research Religion and Public Life Project. The number of Catholics in both parties is split almost evenly in the House and is majority-Democrat in the Senate.
