While her swimming feats have brought Ledecky accolades worldwide, those who knew the Maryland native in her youth while she attended Catholic schools describe her as being a bright, kind, and faithful student.
The champion athlete is a regular parishioner of the Church of the Little Flower in Bethesda, Maryland.
Ledecky has long spoken about how her Catholic faith has kept her grounded, saying that she finds the Hail Mary to be a “calming” prayer and prays it before races.
‘My faith remains something that’s consistent and something I can always rely on,’ the quadruple-gold medalist in Rio tells the Register.
