The top five countries for anti-Christian hate crimes, the report said, were Germany, Italy, France, Spain, and Poland.
The cross had been dedicated during a retreat just before Father’s Day.
The suspect faces one charge of criminal mischief and another of a bias-motivated crime, the Denver District Attorney’s Office said Jan. 13.
City officials said there is little the hospital could have done to prevent the violence, given that the hospital, an urgent care center, was “drastically understaffed and medical staff is suffering from exhaustion.”
Fr. Hutsko, 67, had been serving as pastor of St. Michael Parish in Merrillville, Ind., immediately south of Gary, before he was placed on leave in 2018.
