The archbishop emeritus of Prague responds to criticism of his ‘dubia’ about Holy Communion for remarried-and-divorced couples and discusses the major challenges for the Church in the face of ideologies that are advancing along the road to totalitarianism.
The bishop emeritus of Hong Kong posted an Oct. 12 statement on his website.
‘There are lines that are always very clear, have been very clear in the faith and in the Tradition of the Church,’ he said.
COMMENTARY: It is hard to avoid viewing the Synod as a stalking horse for changing the Church’s moral theology when so many of the prelates that Francis has promoted to high office have said exactly that.

Originally submitted by the archbishop emeritus of Prague on July 13 on behalf of the Czech Bishops’ Conference, the response — signed both by Pope Francis and new doctrine prefect Cardinal Victor Fernández — had been issued to the Czech cardinal on Sept. 25.
The prelates hail from the diverse ecclesiastical landscapes of Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas.
