In a video statement posted online, Cardinal Oswald Gracias said a 2020 recording of a telephone conversation had been ‘mischievously edited’ to give the wrong impression. The cardinal has ‘categorically, emphatically and totally’ denied any wrongdoing. The Vatican is investigating the bishop in question.
Speaking with the Register, Cardinal Oswald Gracias also expressed his sadness over the heavy death toll among Christian clergy, religious and laypeople.
With the number of interreligious marriages on the rise across Asia, Father Cajetan Menezes said that it is an important issue, and one with which the Church needs to have a ‘very specific pastoral care.’
