Jesuit Cardinal Luis Ladaria Ferrer, prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, gave the opening remarks at a May 19-20 congress on ‘Humanae Vitae,’ the 1968 landmark encyclical from St. Paul VI.
COMMENTARY: CDF prefect Cardinal Luis Ladaria has been admirable, yet he has had to do quite a bit of shrugging in response to the actions of his brethren from the Society of Jesus.
COMMENTARY: ‘Pro-choice’ politicians don’t typically misunderstand what the Church teaches, but that they reject it — and still insist on presenting themselves as serious Catholics in full communion with the Church.
In a letter to bishops Aug. 2, Cardinal Luis Ladaria, the prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, said, ‘The new revision ... situates itself in continuity with the preceding Magisterium while bringing forth a coherent development of Catholic doctrine.’
