The theologian said June 19 that ‘the original sin of the Synodal Way’ was that it did not base itself on the Pope's letter to the Church in Germany, with its ‘proposal of being guided by the Gospel and the basic mission of evangelization.’
The German prelate told the Register some Catholics who attend the traditional Latin Mass have turned Pope Benedict XVI’s earlier efforts at reconciliation into division.
The instruction, called “The pastoral conversion of the parish community in the service of the evangelizing mission of the Church,” set out guidelines on reforming parishes and restructuring dioceses to better serve their “singular mission of evangelization.”
