In his interview with Raymond Arroyo, Cardinal Müller said the timing is likely related to the Synod on Synodality concluding in October. The cardinal has criticized some of the attendees for using the meeting as an avenue to promote homosexuality and the ordination of women and advance other ideas contrary to Church doctrine.
The former prefect, who served from 2012 to 2017, insists that ‘not a single cent’ was mishandled under his leadership, reported CNA Deutsch.
Cardinal Müller lamented that as a consequence of the declaration, ‘nobody is speaking about the blessing of marriage, of children, of the family,’ which is ‘our duty,’ and ‘not to divide the Church.’
The Vatican was concerned about his lack of theological orthodoxy but the new prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith says ‘everything was resolved serenely.’
Cardinal Müller, who lived in the same apartment as Cardinal Pell in Rome, noted the cardinal’s strong intellectual formation in Oxford and his knowledge of patristic and systematic theology.
In a video posted on YouTube Oct. 12, the cardinal is seen on the front porch of the Houck family home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where the 48-year-old had been taken into custody.
In an interview with the Register, the German cardinal also warned against bishops and priests who ‘offer themselves as courtiers to the rulers of this world and make themselves their propagandists.’
