In a letter circulated privately to bishops, the Brazilian cardinal advises the document is on schedule to be promulgated later this month or in early February.

Forty synod fathers met Sunday to celebrate Mass in the same catacombs in Rome and to sign a new pact advancing some of the same principles.
Both cardinals wrote letters Aug. 28 to address their concerns.
