Archbishop-designate Jeffrey Grob will be installed as the next shepherd of ‘Cream City’ Jan. 14 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.
The Benedictine monk had served as archbishop of Milwaukee from 1977 to 2002 and resigned from the post amid sexual abuse scandal.
Father Paul Hartmann will assume his new role in May 2022.
Citing a rise in the influence of gender theory, Catholic experts on the topic say the archdiocese’s catechesis and policy on the challenging issue could be a model for others.
“Our biological sex, expressed by our body, is a gift from God and is unchangeable,” the document says.

The archdiocese believes the investigation of the Office of the Attorney General is unlawful, stating that some of the archdiocesan records are under seal. Archbishop Jerome Listecki said the archdiocese would cooperate with any ‘proper’ state investigation, adding that there are ‘legitimate concerns that [the] inquiry is directly targeting only the Catholic Church.’
