In a post on X late Friday night — just two days after his comments — Kennedy said he “would allow appropriate restrictions on abortion in the final months of pregnancy” and highlighted that even the now-defunct Roe v. Wade ruling allowed for such rules.
The previously bipartisan PEPFAR program has come under scrutiny due to ties with abortion groups during the Biden administration.
While a number of new laws expanding abortion access were signed into law, other more extreme pro-abortion measures failed to advance.
