Program Director of Homeless Shelter

We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Program Director to join the Ministry of Caring. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. The Program Director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational needs of the shelter, and ensuring the completion of all program objectives, adherence to agency rules and regulations, and the safety and cleanliness of the Shelter at all times.

Essential Functions:

• Ensure guests receive and understand program requirements, rules, and regulations.

• Responsible for providing quality service to all residents.

• Develop and implement program goals and objectives.

• Support community engagement and collaboration by developing relationships with other service providers including but not limited to mental health, medical, state, county, and city providers.

• Ability to declare situations to encourage the best possible outcome.

• Manage leasing process, application, move-in, and orientation to the property, rules and regulations.

• Maintain full occupancy, ensuring waiting lists are updated.

• Responsible for the day-to-day on-site operation of all properties, including the overall cleanliness, and physical condition.

• Supervise staff assigned to the property, develop, and implement schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage.

• Prepare compliance reports for all funding sources.

• Be able to present, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting.

• Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.

• Perform other duties needed to help drive our vision, and fulfill our mission, that “The poor should never be treated poorly.”

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent MANDATORY

• Bachelor’s degree in related field PREFEERED

• 6 months to 1 years’ experience providing direct social work, and/or case management experience to vulnerable populations PREFERRED.

• Human service experience dealing with issues unique to homelessness, substance abuse, mental health, and physical disabilities PREFERRED.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Ability to show compassion and empathy while also being firm, fair and consistent in upholding the rules of the properties.

• General concern for the poor and sick and sensitivity to their need for dignity and respect.

• Ability to use plain, and simple language to communicate.

• Ongoing awareness of community resources.

Requirements

• Willingness to consent to and the ability to pass a drug screening.

• Willingness to consent to and the ability to pass an FBI fingerprinting background check, where candidate will assume all cost incurred.
