“Jesus wants us to come to him, to love him and adore him and also to share our burdens and allow him to transform our hearts and our lives,” Father of Mercy Wade Menezes assures in one episode of the new, free EWTN Online Learning Series “Eucharistic Devotion.”

“Jesus is waiting for you.”

The insights of Mother Angelica and the saints are included in this series, with Scripture readings spanning from Psalm 121 to John 1, that can accompany the faithful as we near the Solemnity of Corpus Christi and during the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage.

St. Teresa of Avila and St. Faustina are featured in “Inspired by the Saints.”

As Jesus told St. Faustina: “When I come to a human heart in Holy Communion, My hands are full of all kinds of graces which I want to give to the soul.”

Jesus also told Faustina, “[H]ow said I am that souls do not recognize Love!”

In this portion, Father Menezes outlines how to receive Communion worthily and highlights how St. Teresa reflected on the fruitfulness of post-Communion prayer time, due to the great gift of the Eucharist, as the Blessed Sacrament offers us solace and help.

Go and visit Jesus, and consider reflection questions, Father Menezes encourages throughout the series.

In the concluding “Going on Pilgrimage” segment, Father Menezes discusses that our ultimate goal is heaven and underscores how the Eucharist is food for the journey.

“What joy fills my heart when I realize I have Jesus always with me during my earthly pilgrimage.” — Mother Angelica

Father Menezes encourages participation in processions — including for Corpus Christi — and visiting shrines, naming, for instance, the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, Alabama, which is one stop along the St. Juan Diego Route of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage.

Panis angelicus!
